Attention four legged colleagues because details have been announced for National Parks Week, and it sounds like a great excuse to get out for a walk, a paddle or to get mucky.
The events list contains things for us as well as the two leggers.

National Parks Week takes place between 25-31 July 2011 and offers a host of fun, exciting and inspiring things to do in the UK’s 15 National Parks.
Dogs allowed events
Coffins, caves and Crags ( Lake District) – A volunteer-led guided walk taking in a lofty crag, three lakes, a cave and tales of old Lakeland, 7 miles, approx 5.5 hrs.
Other events may allow dogs – please ask your humans to check before you travel
Human activities
With over 90 diverse activities there is something for every two legger – regardless of age, interests or ability. – So even mum could get involved 🙂
- Events on offer during National Parks Week include bush craft and survival skills or map and compass days in the Lake District and Peak District National Parks.
- A chance to be an archaeological detective for a day in the North York Moors.
- Travel back in time to experience life in an Iron Age hut in Pembrokeshire Coast.
- Or be inspired by the National Park’s natural environment and create your own masterpiece at a messy, fun pottery session in the Brecon Beacons.
Carl Lis, chairman of the UK Association of National Park Authorities said: “National Parks Week is a great opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors in a way that’s not only fun but healthy and good for the body and mind.”

It provides practical information to help people with limited mobility get the most out of the inspiring landscape of their National Parks.
