Autumn colours in Carlisle

Autumn has arrived, not long to Christmas

Falling from the trees like the first snowflakes from the skies, the leaves are taking on their rich autumn colours as winter approaches.

Out and about with dad this morning very early and what a morning it was.

Our walk started to the east of the city and within minutes I was soaking wet from the damp grass.  The thick overnight dew clung to every blade of grass, as if awaiting my arrival in the park.

Trampling this way and that, it was great fun leaving trails as I soaked up the moisture into my fur.

Occasionally a leaf or a twig would come tumbling down from the overhanging trees catching me on my nose or back.

It took me a while to work out where they were coming from as no one else was around us, it being 7am.

Bright sunlight cast long shadows through the branches and made the autumn leaves twinkle against their green colleagues.

From the deep dark edges of Rickerby Park a cat watches me play in the cool morning air. He stays still, locked on to my every movement with his piercing eyes.

Hidden from view a robin chirps a morning welcome whilst high above airplanes leave streaks of white against the blue sky.

What a morning for a walk.

Until next time, woofs and wags

Charlie
