Out and about in Carlisle this morning, it was great to see the Snowdrops marking the arrival of slightly warmer weather and Spring.
Whilst mum went shopping in a nearby superstore, I ventured into the park and had a quick walk with dad.
Sheltered by Carlisle Castle and quite a number of tall trees, Victoria Park develops a micro climate ideal for early flowers.
Clean and dry
According to mum, many gardens in the area seem a little bit ahead of the season with leaf buds starting to open on many shrubs and trees.
The mild weather coupled with the lack of winter frosts and plenty of rain seems to have given plants an early start to new seasons growth.
Nearby daffodil flowers are swelling within their green protective sleeves, awaiting some spring sunshine before bursting out with their bright yellow flowers.
At least I can get home today without being soaked through and covered with mud.
