I usually write about my Christmas presents and that will be coming soon but my mum and dad went all nostalgic over a box with chocolates in that I felt I had to mention it.
It is true that with most Christmas presents today, the packaging just ends up in the recycling but daddy got some chocolates in his Christmas stocking that sparked a number of ooh’s and aah’s.
An A5 size tin of four individually wrapped bars of chocolate were sent from Norway and are made by Confiserie Heidel of Osnabrück in the Lower Saxony region of Germany.
The tin reminded mum and dad of items that their grandparents would have had and indeed, which still exist to this day holding various little bits and bobs in mum’s sewing box.
Embossed on the lid is a typical Victorian Christmas scene and inside, each bar of chocolate is individually wrapped in a differently designed quality paper wrapper with foil insert to keep the chocolate fresh.

This box comes from the “Nostalgia” range Inspired by Victorian Christmas images.
Throughout the range, it is obvious that Confiserie Heidel pay just as much attention to the packaging as they do, the exquisite chocolate that is within.
When mum had a look on their website, she found a stunning array of products to suit many events from Easter through to Christmas, all in remarkable packaging but she could not find anybody retailing these products in the UK.
Unsurprisingly, the Confiserie Heidel tins are sought after by collectors and mum even found a few of the empty ones on Ebay selling for about £12 each.
Ours will find a useful role in the household, reminding us of our dear friends in Norway.
