Looking and thinking....

Time for thoughts of Summer

Creativity takes time but it also needs space and these are two things in short supply around here since the arrival of Rufus.

Looking and thinking....
Looking and thinking….

Don’t get me wrong I love having a friend and we have some great fun together but the last few weeks have been what can only be described as trying.

If Rufus was a human he would be in the age best described as the ‘terrible twos’. Or put another way he is struggling with learning about life whilst coping with the changes in his body.

Puppy teeth

Not a day goes by when he does not shed a baby tooth or learn how loud his bark can really be.  He wriggles, plays and generally causes mischief just to see how far he can push our humans and me.

On the mantle shelf is a pile of a dozen teeth harvested by mum from toys, left on the floor or embedded into chews. The poor lad must have been so frustrated with the wiggling little teeth rattling around in his head.  He may even have been frightened thinking that his head was falling to bits.

Taking a closer look at the teeth they are porcelain thin and appear not deep rooted. This is in total contrast to the new pair of nashers he is growing.

We played rough and tumble the other evening and I can say with confidence that his new teeth are sharp and well up to the job of chewing anything.

Bluebells a plenty

Although I have not been writing much lately, due to Rufus taking up much of my time, I am still going for some lovely walks.

Earlier today we ventured down to the river to introduce the youngster to the largest water bowl he will ever see.  Initially scared of standing in the cool water he soon was knee deep but on this occasion no further.

With the scent of wild garlic in the air, our walk veered through the assorted herbage on the rivers edge and in between the waves of glorious bluebells.

This year these dainty flowers seemed to have had almost perfect conditions and can be seen in abundance lining paths and lanes.

With a bit of luck Rufus will be tired this afternoon and we can both stretch out on the warm garden stones and soak our tummies in the sunshine.

Until next time
