Mum and dad decided it was time for us to have a doggy holiday and as this was rufus’ first, a weekend away seemed appropriate.
The kennels we usually use were full, so mum set about trying to find another one. This is not an easy task because mum and dad are very particular about where we go.
A Google search for kennels in our area brought back a few which seemed possible. When mum browsed their websites, she soon narrowed this down to just two.
Mum’s favourite among these was Lough House at Little Orton, just outside Carlisle, so she called but expected them to be

full at short notice.
The very helpful lady called Louise said they were busy but as Rufus and I would be sharing and it was just for the weekend, she would see what she could do. She rang back quite quickly to say they had space.
When we arrived, we were taken to a secure area to get used to all the new sniffs, whilst Louise and Kevin asked mum about our requirements and showed mum where we would be sleeping.
We were allowed to take our own blankies and a toy so that we would feel comfortable but they had excellent beds anyway.
A number of times a day we were let out together to romp around in a large paddock with high security fencing. Even Rufus couldn’t jump that!
Louise and Kevin looked after us very well and we really enjoyed our stay.
When mum came to collect us she noticed that we did not smell of kennels or stinky shampoo spray. We just smelled clean and cuddly.
We spent the rest of the afternoon telling mum and dad all about our holiday and asked if we could go again. Then we fell asleep to dream about our adventure.
Thank you so much to Kevin and Louise….we’ll be back!
If you want to find out more, visit the Lough House Kennels website and Facebook page. They are soon going to open a grooming room too.
