{"id":3946,"date":"2012-04-02T20:17:00","date_gmt":"2012-04-02T19:17:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/?p=3946"},"modified":"2012-04-02T20:17:00","modified_gmt":"2012-04-02T19:17:00","slug":"take-care-when-out-on-a-walk","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/2012\/04\/take-care-when-out-on-a-walk\/","title":{"rendered":"Take care when out on a walk"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dog owners are being asked to take extra care as they walk in the Yorkshire Dales National Park over the next five months.<\/p>\n<p>Alan Hulme, the <a title=\"Yorkshire Dales National Park\" href=\"http:\/\/www.yorkshiredales.org.uk\" target=\"_blank\">Yorkshire Dales National Park<\/a> Authority\u2019s Head of Ranger Services said the breeding season for wildlife and for farm animals is now well underway and dogs can cause long-term damage if they are allowed to roam free.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_993\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-993\" style=\"width: 203px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2009\/05\/sheep_may09.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-thumbnail wp-image-993\" title=\"sheep_may09\" src=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2009\/05\/sheep_may09-203x152.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"203\" height=\"152\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-993\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">A very confident sheep<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is a very sensitive time for domestic and wild animals \u2013 especially ground-nesting birds, for which the Dales are renowned,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlthough dog owners say their pet never chases or attacks sheep and lambs, some do. In addition, a lot of people don\u2019t appreciate that dogs can cause just as much harm unintentionally by keeping parents away from their young, which leaves eggs, fledglings and lambs vulnerable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDog owners are entitled to keep their pets off the lead on public paths although they must keep them under close control.
