{"id":4940,"date":"2014-02-05T14:07:24","date_gmt":"2014-02-05T14:07:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/?p=4940"},"modified":"2014-02-05T14:11:40","modified_gmt":"2014-02-05T14:11:40","slug":"snowdrops-arrive-in-carlisle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/2014\/02\/snowdrops-arrive-in-carlisle\/","title":{"rendered":"Snowdrops arrive in Carlisle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Out and about in Carlisle this morning, it was great to see the Snowdrops marking the arrival of slightly warmer weather and Spring.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_4941\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-4941\" style=\"width: 168px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/02\/snowdrop_carlisle.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-4941\" alt=\"Snowdrops in Victoria Park, Carlisle\" src=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/02\/snowdrop_carlisle-168x300.jpg\" width=\"168\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-4941\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Snowdrops in Victoria Park, Carlisle<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whilst mum went shopping in a nearby superstore, I ventured into the park and had a quick walk with dad.<\/p>\n<p>Sheltered by Carlisle Castle and quite a number of tall trees, Victoria Park develops a micro climate ideal for early flowers.<\/p>\n<h3>Clean and dry<\/h3>\n<p>According to mum, many gardens in the area seem a little bit ahead of the season with leaf buds starting to open on many \u00a0shrubs and trees.<\/p>\n<p>The mild weather coupled with the lack of winter frosts and plenty of rain seems to have given plants an early start to new seasons growth.<\/p>\n<p>Nearby daffodil flowers are swelling within their green protective sleeves, awaiting some spring sunshine before bursting out with their bright yellow flowers.<\/p>\n<p>At least I can get home today without being soaked through and covered with mud.<\/p>\n<p>Until next time, and don&#8217;t forget to check out my article about <strong><a title=\"British Gas energy monitor reset\" href=\"http:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/2013\/01\/british-gas-energy-monitor-reset\/\" target=\"_blank\">re-connecting your British Gas Energy monitor<\/a><\/strong> .
