{"id":5362,"date":"2014-07-13T16:43:27","date_gmt":"2014-07-13T15:43:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/?p=5362"},"modified":"2014-07-13T16:43:27","modified_gmt":"2014-07-13T15:43:27","slug":"asda-sells-mince-pies-in-july","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/2014\/07\/asda-sells-mince-pies-in-july\/","title":{"rendered":"Asda sells mince pies in July"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Whilst on a shopping trip earlier this week my human dad spotted one of his favourite foods on a supermarket shelf.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5363\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5363\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/07\/mincepie_asda_kendal.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5363\" src=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/07\/mincepie_asda_kendal-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"Mince Pies on a shelf in Asda, Kendal\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5363\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Mince Pies on a shelf in Asda, Kendal<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Stacked on a display rack near to the entrance of the Asda Supermarket in Kendal, Cumbria, were around fifty\u00a0mince pies.<\/p>\n<p>Pinching himself and checking the day of the week he initially thought he was seeing things after being out in the very warm mid-day sunshine.<\/p>\n<p>With a temperature outside around 25 degrees centigrade and almost five months until Christmas he wondered if\u00a0he had been time shifted\u00a0to a parallel universe.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Christmas mince pies<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_5367\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5367\" style=\"width: 209px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/07\/waiting_for_christmas.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-5367\" src=\"https:\/\/ablogfrommydog.com\/contents1a\/wp-content\/uploads\/\/2014\/07\/waiting_for_christmas-209x300.jpg\" alt=\"Santa waiting for Christmas\" width=\"209\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-5367\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Santa waiting for Christmas<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Upon his return home he recounted his story and checked the <a title=\"Mince Pies\" href=\"http:\/\/groceries.asda.com\/asda-webstore\/landing\/home.shtml#\/search\/mince%20pie\" target=\"_blank\">Asda online store<\/a> to see if this may have been a one off occurrence. \u00a0Sure enough mince pies are listed\u00a0as a six pack of tea time treats costing \u00a31.<\/p>\n<p>Now I don&#8217;t know about you but having special foods available all year around sort of lessens the longing. They no longer become sort after.<\/p>\n<p>I wonder if this is how our ancestors would feel now to see cans of dog food on a shelf and look back at the old ways of chasing our prey. Not knowing if supper would be leg of deer or a scrawny pigeon.<\/p>\n<p>One good thing I suppose is that my favourite vegetable, the Brussel\u00a0Sprout, should soon be returning to my\u00a0diet\u00a0very soon.
