Escaping from the house, leaving Rufus to face the stripping comb and training, my human dad and I went in search of autumn colours along the banks of the River Eden in Carlisle earlier today.<\/p>\n

Bright clear blue skies provided the perfect backdrop to show off the spectacular colours as we walked for miles towards the city centre following the river paths.<\/p>\n

Trees decked with millions of golden leaves glisten with the morning dew. Beneath the calm peaceful river\u00a0reflects a celebration of colour perfect in every way.<\/p>\n

Hot air balloon<\/strong><\/p>\n

We stopped frequently to take in the sights, sounds and smells along our path made slightly damp by recent rain.<\/p>\n

High above us the white lines left by\u00a0aircraft criss-crossed the sky in a loose woven pattern.<\/p>\n

In the distance\u00a0the feint outline of a multi-coloured hot air ballon could just be made out as it floated northwards across the city.<\/p>\n

Approaching the Etterby railway bridge I was once again able\u00a0to go for my paddle and drink. Works to build new foundations for the bridge piers is now complete and workmen have left the site.<\/p>\n

Grass seed covers the repaired river bank where only a few weeks ago heavy machinery trundled\u00a0within a high fence cage.<\/p>\n

Nearby, a skip full of the usual builders debris awaits collection. \u00a0The area is calm and the birds can once again be heard.<\/p>\n

Bonfire construction<\/h3>\n

Preparations begin for Carlisle Fireshow 2015<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

With our walk passing through Bitts Park we were able to check on the\u00a0bonfire construction taking place on the field adjacent to Carlisle Castle.<\/p>\n

According to Carlisle City Councils website<\/a>\u00a0the theme for this year\u2019s Carlisle Fireshow is ‘Spellbound Sensations’.<\/p>\n

A\u00a030-foot high bonfire will be centre stage and include a huge animated dragon.<\/p>\n

Currently the work site is strewn with hundreds of wooden pallets and people working against the clock to create the centre piece for the free event which attracts around 30,000 humans.<\/p>\n

With my walk drawing to a close in the nearby Rickerby Park my human dad and I have enjoyed our\u00a0time together without the pesky youngster. \u00a0No doubt I will get an interrogation upon my return home and made to explain where I have been all morning.<\/p>\n
